Sport

Students have many opportunities to stay active and participate in sport.

Overview

The Sports Program is available to all students and includes swimming, athletics, cross country and inter-school sport.

Swimming

In Term 1, Junior School students (Prep to Year 6) join other primary schools in the region to take part in an annual swimming carnival.

A separate carnival is held for students Year 7 and above of Orbost Community College. The carnival will be in Term 1 at the Orbost outdoor pool.

Both events bring together not only students, staff and parents but the wider Orbost community.

The athletics carnival is held in Term 2 each year on the college campus. Students compete in a range of track events plus field events such as high jump, discus, shotput and javelin.

Cross country

All school-age groups, from Prep to Year 12, participate in our annual cross-country event held in Term 3.

Race routes are a mix of on and off-campus, and varied distances depending on the respective year group, providing a varied and inclusive experience for all students.

Inter-school sports

The College competes in inter-school sporting competitions against other schools from the local area. Inter-school sports are offered to all students during both summer and winter, including basketball, netball, tennis, hockey and cricket.

Students who achieve outstanding results at our inter-school or sporting carnival events can progress to higher levels, including District, Regional and Statewide school competitions.
